Anna Shipulina’s sculpture is organic and fluid, her forms at times raw and unglazed and others functional and refined. From horse hair raku to foil saggar firing, she plays with process, surface, heat, and light, embracing the mystery of the end result. Her work, often characterized by soft feminine curves is an expression of her appreciation and respect for imperfection over a drive for exaction.

The Maitake Mushroom Vase is unglazed and textured on the outside to show the beauty of the natural clay and glazed on the inside for holding water. Can exist as a stand alone sculpture or be used to hold dry or fresh flowers.
